The Profile tab serves as a central hub for managing key aspects of your Keeper account. From linking and managing financial accounts to customizing notifications, reviewing past returns, updating login information, managing your subscription, and checking referrals, this section puts everything you need in one place.
On top of that, the Profile tab gives you access to Tax University, where you’ll find great resources to help you learn more about taxes. Let’s take a closer look at each feature and see how they work.
Profile & Preferences
Tax Profile
Want to get a better idea of what your tax bill or refund might look like for the current year? The Tax Estimate feature in your Tax Profile gives you a quick estimate based on the information you provide.
Your Tax Profile is also where you can keep important tax and work information up to date. You can add details that help calculate your tax estimate, manage your jobs and businesses for allocating income and expenses, and update certain deduction settings, such as whether you have business travel or meals.
Keeping your Tax Profile up to date helps Keeper provide a more accurate tax estimate and properly organize your transactions.
📝 Note: Keep in mind that while the estimate provides a helpful ballpark figure, it doesn’t take into account other sources of income, credits, or deductions that will be factored in during the actual filing process. Think of it as a useful guide, but not a final calculation. Your actual tax bill or refund may vary once you complete your filing with us and submit your return for review.

Understanding your tax profile
Your Tax Profile includes important information about your income, work, certain tax credits, and deductions that may be used to calculate your tax estimate. You can access your Tax Profile through Tax Estimate in the Bookkeeping tab or directly from the Profile tab on the web dashboard by selecting Tax Profile.
Below, we’ll walk you through each section of your Tax Profile and explain how the information is used.
Personal info and Income
In this section, you can update your:
- State of residence
- Tax filing status
- Dependents (if any)
Jobs & Income
Here, you can add or edit the types of work or businesses you have by selecting + Add job under Jobs & Income.
If you don’t see an exact match, simply type in your job or business name. You can then select it as an option and add it to your freelancing details. Once you select a job role, you'll need to select an entity type.
The jobs you add here are also used to allocate transactions in the Bookkeeping tab. As you continue using Keeper, the app learns from your spending patterns to help categorize your transactions and identify potential deductions based on the work you do.
To add estimated income under Jobs, select a job (or + Add job) and fill in Estimated income (optional) for that job. Each job row shows the income you entered for it. If you're filing jointly, your spouse's jobs are listed separately under Spouse's jobs.
To delete a job, select the job and select Delete job.
Credits and deductions
Here, you can enter the amounts you paid toward student tuition, mortgage interest, and traditional IRA contributions for the year. If any of these don’t apply to your tax situation, you can simply leave the corresponding fields blank.
Travel and business meals
Next, you’ll find toggle switches for common deductions, such as business meals and travel expenses. Use these toggles to indicate whether these types of expenses apply to your self-employed work or business. You can indicate whether you have business meals with clients or colleagues or travel for business purposes.
For more deduction options and configurations, check out the Rules feature in the Bookkeeping tab.
Taxes Paid
In the final section of your Tax Profile, you can enter the federal and state income taxes withheld from your W-2, as well as any quarterly estimated tax payments you’ve made for the year. This information helps Keeper provide a more accurate estimate of your potential tax bill or refund.
Accounts & imports
Linked accounts
Link financial accounts
You can easily add your bank accounts or cards through the Accounts & imports section of the Profile tab. Once linked, these accounts will be displayed in the same section. From there, you can choose how each account is used by selecting one of the following options:
- Sometimes used for 1099/freelancing-related purchases
- Never used for 1099/freelancing-related purchases
- Always used for 1099/freelancing-related purchases
Selecting any of these options will affect how the status of transactions from each account appears in the Bookkeeping tab.
If you no longer want to see transactions from a particular account, you can remove the account from your linked accounts. When removing an account, you’ll also have the option to keep or delete the transactions that were previously imported from it.
Link Apple Card
If you use an Apple Card, you can connect it directly through the Keeper iPhone app. Select Apple Card when linking an account, then allow Keeper to access your Apple Wallet transactions. Apple Card linking requires iOS 17.4 or later and isn’t available on Android or the web dashboard.

Link Amazon
Most banks and credit cards connect to Keeper through Plaid, but Amazon use a different connection process.
You can connect your Amazon account through Profile > Accounts & imports. Once connected, Keeper can import your Amazon purchases, including purchases made with cards that aren’t linked to Keeper, and match them to your existing card transactions when possible.

Transaction imports
Import spreadsheet or statement
If your bank isn’t supported by Plaid, you can still upload a spreadsheet or statement containing your transactions. Go to Profile > Accounts & imports > Import spreadsheet or statement to upload your file. You can also access this feature from + Add Transaction in the Bookkeeping tab.
Once the upload is complete, your transactions will appear in the Bookkeeping tab. Keeper currently supports PDF, XLSX, and CSV file formats.

Manage subscription
This is where you can view and manage your membership plan.
- Edit subscription
- Edit payment method
- Cancel subscription renewal
📝 When you cancel the renewal of your subscription, you are effectively unsubscribing / deactivating your account. You will not incur any charges moving forward unless you decide to resubscribe.

Towards the bottom of the Manage subscription page, you'll find an option to permanently delete your Keeper account. Please note that choosing this option will unlink all connected bank accounts and erase all data stored in your account, with the exception of your tax filing information. To comply with federal regulations, tax filing data must be retained for three years.
