Web Dashboard: Profile

In the Profile section of your Keeper web dashboard, you can conveniently manage various aspects of your account. This includes updating your personal information, managing your subscription, accessing your referral link, and linking your bank accounts.

Linked Accounts

Financial accounts

You can easily add your bank accounts or cards through the Linked Accounts section in your web dashboard. Once linked, these accounts will be displayed in the same section. From there, you can choose how each account is used by selecting one of the following options:

  • Sometimes used for 1099/freelancing-related purchases
  • Never used for 1099/freelancing-related purchases
  • Always used for 1099/freelancing-related purchases

Selecting any of these options will affect how the status of transactions from each account appears in the Bookkeeping tab.

If you no longer want to see transactions from a particular account, you can remove the account from your linked accounts. When removing an account, you’ll also have the option to keep or delete the transactions that were previously imported from it.

Linking your Amazon account

Most banks and credit cards connect to Keeper through Plaid, but Amazon and Apple Card use a different connection process.

You can connect your Amazon account through Profile > Linked accounts on the web dashboard. Once connected, Keeper can import your Amazon purchases, including purchases made with cards that aren’t linked to Keeper, and match them to your existing card transactions when possible.

If you use an Apple Card, you can connect it directly through the Keeper iPhone app. Apple Card linking isn’t available through the web dashboard.

Expense Uploads

If your bank isn’t supported by Plaid, you can still upload a spreadsheet or statement containing your transactions. Go to Profile > Linked Accounts > Expense Uploads to upload your file. You can also access this feature from + Add Transaction in the Bookkeeping tab.

Once the upload is complete, your transactions will appear in the Bookkeeping tab. Keeper currently supports PDF, XLSX, and CSV file formats.

Tax Profile

Want to get a better idea of what your tax bill or refund might look like for the current year? The Tax Estimate feature in your Tax Profile gives you a quick estimate based on the information you provide.

Your Tax Profile is also where you can keep important tax and work information up to date. You can add details that help calculate your tax estimate, manage your jobs and businesses for allocating income and expenses, and update certain deduction settings, such as whether you have business travel or meals.

Keeping your Tax Profile up to date helps Keeper provide a more accurate tax estimate and properly organize your transactions.

📝 Note: Keep in mind that while the estimate provides a helpful ballpark figure, it doesn’t take into account other sources of income, credits, or deductions that will be factored in during the actual filing process. Think of it as a useful guide, but not a final calculation. Your actual tax bill or refund may vary once you complete your filing with us and submit your return for review.

Understanding your tax profile

Your Tax Profile includes important information about your income, work, certain tax credits, and deductions that may be used to calculate your tax estimate. You can access your Tax Profile through Tax Estimate in the Bookkeeping tab or directly from the Profile tab on the web dashboard by selecting Tax Profile.

Below, we’ll walk you through each section of your Tax Profile and explain how the information is used.

Personal info and Income

In this section, you can update your:

  • State of residence
  • Tax filing status
  • Dependents (if any)
  • Expected annual W-2 employee income
  • Expected annual freelancing/business income

Jobs & Income

Here, you can add or edit the types of work or businesses you have by selecting + Add job under Jobs & Income.

If you don’t see an exact match, simply type in the name of your job or business. You can then select the matching option and add it to your job list.

The jobs you add here are also used to allocate transactions in the Bookkeeping tab. As you continue using Keeper, the app learns from your spending patterns to help categorize your transactions and identify potential deductions based on the work you do.

Credits and deductions

Here, you can enter the amounts you paid toward student tuition, mortgage interest, and traditional IRA contributions for the year. If any of these don’t apply to your tax situation, you can simply leave the corresponding fields blank.

Travel and business meals

Next, you’ll find toggle switches for common deductions, such as business meals and travel expenses. Use these toggles to indicate whether these types of expenses apply to your self-employed work or business. You can indicate whether you have business meals with clients or colleagues or travel for business purposes.

For more deduction options and configurations, check out the Rules feature in the Bookkeeping tab.

Taxes Paid

In the final section of your Tax Profile, you can enter the federal and state income taxes withheld from your W-2, as well as any quarterly estimated tax payments you’ve made for the year. This information helps Keeper provide a more accurate estimate of your potential tax bill or refund.

Login credentials

In this section, you can update your:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number

Partner Sharing Feature

In the Login Credentials section, you can use the Partner Sharing feature to add another person’s email address or phone number. This is especially handy if you’re filing jointly and both you and your spouse can log in and keep track of your self-employment transactions in the app. It can also serve as a backup login option in case you ever lose access to your own email or phone number.

Subscription

This is where you can view and manage your membership plan.

  • Edit subscription
  • Edit payment method
  • Cancel subscription

📝 When you cancel the renewal of your subscription, you are effectively unsubscribing / deactivating your Keeper account. You will not incur any charges moving forward unless you decide to resubscribe.

Towards the bottom of the Subscription page, you'll find an option to permanently delete your Keeper account. Please note that choosing this option will unlink all connected bank accounts and erase all data stored in your account, with the exception of your tax filing information. To comply with federal regulations, tax filing data must be retained for three years.
